Our Story
The GAF Story
My name is Jeanette and I was born with a needle and cotton in my hand. I have always had a natural talent for sewing and designing from fabrics. I studied fashion/design and interior design and worked with many companies. In 1998 I decided to create my own brand of home textiles so I quit my day job working with Interior Design companies. I was determined to make a living doing what I love… working with fabrics. gaf is now an established family business as my daughter Laura and my son Jon both work within the company.
Our Name
The company name gaf evolved from a meeting with a cockney guy whilst I was on holiday in Portugal. The slang word gaf was mentioned quite often in conversation when he spoke about his or a friend’s apartment, or house etc it is memorable and uncomplicated but with a real sense of character and style…Just perfect for our brand. Gaf was formed - manufacturing curtains and blinds and accessories.
It started with a single chair
A tatty dining chair used as a prop in our Liverpool showroom. I designed a cover to fit the chair perfectly and used it to display new fabrics! The chair changed colour and texture almost every week and so inspired our customers. This sparked the idea “CLOTHES FOR CHAIRS”. An opportunity to give individuality to mass produced dining chairs whilst offering fantastic solutions…
Solutions for your Lifestyle
Love of Fabrics
To be inspired by home textiles and fabrics isn’t just scissors and sewing. It’s about a creative desire. At gaf we have a great time doing what we love and we love doing what we do!
All our covers are manufactured here in the UK by our experienced machinists with only quality in mind.
Our sense of style and design doesn’t just stop at covers we can make to order Curtains, Blinds and Accessories. Simplicity of line and proportion are the cornerstones of all good design and we apply this to everything we make. We get tremendous satisfaction when we help our customers create a high quality stylish look for their home.
LocationWe have found our perfect place to work… Our converted Barn in the rural countryside of Eccleston on the outskirts of Liverpool. Situated on Lord Derby’s Estate and very close to Knowsley Safari Park. So close in fact we occasionally hear the roar of the Lions.
We are very excited about what the future holds as we continue to develop our products further.
